Favorite Books of 2012

Hey everyone! I'm so sorry it's been a while since I've posted something but I'm glad you're all hanging with me.

I wanted to start a book club but it was pretty difficult with school, attempting to find a full time job and planning my wedding to add a book club in the mix. I thought instead I would just let you know a few of my favorite books so far and hopefully you'll enjoy them as much as I have!

Wrapped in a landscape of a Wisconsin winter, this autobiographical novel explores sibling rivalry of two brothers growing up in the isolated country and the romance of two coming-of-age lovers. This is a tale of secruity, discovery, playfulness, faith and tragedy. Told in a graphic novel form, this quick read will leave you memorized over the details of the images, the wisdom of the main character and the love and loss that we all hold deep within our hearts.

Wonder by RJ Palacio was one of the most inspiring reads I've ever come across. You not only begin to cheer for August and all of his friends and family that he meets but you want him to succeed, to enjoy being a child and above all, to know that beauty is skin deep. A must read for parent and child alike.

Somewhere in South America at the home of the country's vice president, a lavish birthday party is being held in honor of Mr. Hosokawa, a powerful Japanese businessman. Roxanne Coss, opera's most revered soprano, has mesmerized the guests with her singing. It is a perfect evening until a band of terrorists breaks in, taking the entire party hostage.
But what begins as a life-threatening scenario slowly evolves into something quite different. Friendship, compassion, and the chance for great love lead the characters to forget the real danger that has been set in motion and cannot be stopped.
This one another favorite of mine. I actually listened to it in audio format which was helpful since there are several characters in this novel, and it allowed me to keep track with who was who based on the tone of the voice. A witty, humorous, loving, suspenseful and addicting book. I'm sure this will be a re-read for many years to come.

What are your favorite books this year?

  2. It is hard to find time or maybe just the mental energy to get into a "real" book... I am just rereading the Janet Evanovich numbered books! They make me laugh.
